More walks, less screen

More walks. I’m not sure when it started, but it’s something I’ve been doing with increasing regularity. Over the weekend, I walked for three hours around MacRitchie and saw quite a number of people on the trail. It made me wonder — is this something everyone has been doing?
I spent the time walking with a friend who has been building tech for two decades. We discussed and debated ideas, and shared our hopes and fears.
Beyond the supposed health benefits, I suspect walking and chatting with peers in the industry is something I’ll be doing more of, especially with my increased use of LLMs at work.
LLMs have significantly increased my productivity for work that needs to be done at a desk with a laptop open. They’ve given me time back.
But the real reason I think walking and talking will become more common for me is that it acts as a forcing function. It requires me to use different muscles to collect, organize, and distill information — to mentally structure and (verbally) articulate thoughts and arguments, in real time, without a screen to lean on.
